  1. I love making the unexpected. As a male knitter, most folk expect me to keep to ordinary items. In fact I’d rather make novelties. A doll instead of a scarf, a pair of bright socks instead of a sweater, anything but what a recipient would expect!

  2. I like to gift hats, scarves, and fingerless gloves to aunts, uncles, and cousins–I can knit a bunch of items from the same pattern in different colors. That way, nobody gets a “better” gift, and if they want to swap colors, they can.

  3. I love to knit the kind of gift that will keep the recipient happy for years to come. Six years ago I knit a great blue blanket for my godson before he was born. It may not cover all of him anymore, but he still uses it to this day.

  4. My fav item from Knit Picks is Chroma fingering. Can’t get enough! My fav item to make as gifts is hats. Easy and quick to make and so useful! Debbie H

  6. I LOVE Little Red Bicycle! Having the opportunity to see and feel her yarns in person turned me into a fan! 🙂

  8. I love making something handmade that’s unique and you can’t buy it in the store. I’ve always loved receiving those handmade gifts too!

  9. I’m knitting with Little Red Bicycle’s Penny Farthing sock in Antigone right now! I adore the colours that LRB come up with, and the names are so evocative.

  10. I love giving fingerless gloves. Each pair is unique and I use them to test out new skills before working on a larger piece. They’re so easy to experiment with and I think everyone should have at least one pair.

  11. I like to give something practical, but with flair (ie. something they couldn’t buy). Last year, I did a theme of mittens and gloves. Everyone got very different gloves, tailored to their personalities.

  12. My current favourite thing from Little Red Bicycle are her miniskein packs. Perfect for sock yarn blankets without having to go to the trouble of knitting socks first!

  13. I could spend a fortune on ANY of those sites! LOL!
My favorite gifts to knit are the sweaters that I make. Each of my four children gets a hand-knit sweater for Christmas. Surprisingly, even my boys love their Christmas sweaters! 🙂 Nothing like your kids telling you how much they love the sweaters that you’ve knit for them. 🙂
    On Ravelry I’m Teish.

  15. Yummy prizes!
For gifts, I like to make smaller items. Especially if I have a long to knit list. I have three pair of Bella mittens lines up, with a fourth pair just added. I hope they are a quick knit for me!

  17. For gifts, the difficulty of the project is proportional to how much the recipient will appreciate it: my handwork-loving friends get socks and lacy scarves and whatnot, while my other friends get hats or scarves in worsted or aran weight superwash.

  18. I love anything from Knitpicks. : )
I really enjoy seeing Knitterella fun knitting related treasures like the bags and notecards. It great to see her work for others as well.

  20. (Sidebar: I love! the Gifts issue.)
I could browse the knitpicks site for hours. Currently, I’m all distracted by the kits – the Winter Wonderland kit (and its predecessors) I just love, and the mittens kits- I love the colors.

    Thanks for the chance!

  22. I have kniterella gift tags on my PLEASE PLEASE buy me this for Christmas list. My favourite ones say ‘I made this especially for you, even if you don’t like it please act like you do’.
Cheers Kat (Katinspace on Rav and Twitter)

  23. my favourite gift is the sort that brings an outright smile to someones face – not a ‘thank’s for thinking I’m special’ smile (although that is rather cool too) but an ‘OMG that is so funny’ smile…

  25. My favorite kind of gift to knit is whatever the receiver would really enjoy, like a toy for my son, or a shawl for my mom.

  26. All of Kniterella’s bags are cute, but Getting Through the Day One Stitch at a Time really fits my day today! I’m KimW on Ravelry (so clever, no?!).

  27. I love to knit dishclothes and give a bar of handmade soap. I think they make great gifts that anyone can use.
    Livin4fishin on Ravelry

  28. I love to give small shawls as gifts, because then I can keep knitting more. I can’t wait to make one with Stroll Glimmer – fabulous.

  29. My favorite gifts to knit are fingerless gloves.
I’ve been coveting Little Red Bicycle yarn for so long…crossing my fingers! 🙂

  31. I have been doing the little red bicycle yarn clubs all year and I have not had one yarn I did not like. They are all fabulous.

  32. My favorite kind of gift to knit is a hat. They are so fast, and always beautiful and usually challenging! I also love knitpicks book sales!! Rav – katwriter

  33. I LOVE the first yarn pictured. My favorite gift to knit is an Estonian lace scarf — which I’m sure would be lovely in this yarn. Thanks for the giveaway.

  34. I love all of Knitterella’s bags and that one is one of my favorites – followed closely by “If knitting is wrong, I don’t want to be right”… lol.
My Ravelry name is PprmntMochaMama and my email is assessions(at)hotmail(dot)com.

  35. Such beautiful yarn, and such a lovely giveaway!
My favourite gift to knit is mittens – they’re thoughtful and fun to receive.

  36. I am already immersed in gift knitting for christmas… I am knitting cabled wrist-warmers in every colourway of Drops Nepal (squidg-a-licious wool!) and with the left overs… Miss T’s Cafe coffee sleeves from knitcircus summer collection 2010!

  37. My gift knits are usually used as my quick, mindless project that I keep for social knitting. Hats, scarves, cowls etc. Unless it’s for another knitter. Someone who understands the work involved in Fair Isle or Lace or a complex pattern is a worthy recipient of such a gift!

  39. love browsing the knitpicks catalog (and ordering – always seem to hit the $50 for free shipping…), just discovered kniterella thru your gifts mag and ordered 2 bags for gifts. I am dnnkuehl on ravelry

  40. In making a gift, I like to consider what that recipient would like in terms of color, texture, style, etc. and then get creative within that and make something I’d like to give! I love kniterella!

  41. I love to knit fancy scarves-my eyes are on the pink Seachell as Oct. is BCA month. I have two friends who are BC survivors and a neighbor who is currently being treated the second time. Any of these ladies would appreciate a pretty pink pick -me- up. Thanks for the generosity. Linda

  42. I’m an extremely selfish knitter. I keep starting gifts for others and end up falling in love with them and keeping for myself! I am not a hat wearer, so those seem to be the best gift items for me to make.
    Rav ID: Velourious

  43. I love to knit scarves for others- gives me a chance to try new techniques and gives them a nice gift that most folks use. Unless its for my mother- she demands socks.

  44. My favorite items from Kniterella are the humorous gift tags. They are the best to attach to gifts that you have worked on for hours to bring a smile to someone else.

  45. Oh my, endless goodies! I love the Beach Glass colorway by Little Red Bicycle and have always wanted to try knitting w/ a Sea Cell yarn. I’m also looking forward to trying the new Sugarbunny on Knitpicks. Thanks for the generous giveaway!
    ravelry – barrettlisa

  46. Knit Picks is a great place to get reasonably priced knitting supplies. That’s something I can appreciate. Thanks much for the contest.

  47. My favorite gift to knit is a scarf with a fairly simply pattern. I can take it to work with me and knit during downtimes and not be lost when I pick it back up again.
After purchasing some leonidas and shark week in penny farthing sock, I’m hooked! While I’m thinking about it, I think I should rip out the sweater I started with them and make a couple of scarves instead. I have lots of time before Christmas to knit! Don’t I? (panic setting in!!)
