Woohoo! I spent all morning yesterday and a chunk of today’s child-free time working in my new Studio (pics soon!)
Next issue of our magazine will feature some sewn–rather than knitted–scarves (I know, weird….) and I got a bee in my bonnet to make one with box pleats after glancing through a random J Jill catalog and seeing a jacket with pleated back. Amy Butler’s scarves from Midwest Modern inspired me to try it in cotton, so I used some of my favorite stripey fabric.
It reminds me of a thrift-store tie in the best way.
I made some silly sewing errors, even for me, like accidentally cutting through an extra layer with the pinking shears, but I learned a lot, and some of it did turn out like I’d hoped…..
Box pleat ruffle, with satiny poly lining.
Next time I’ll know a lot more, but I’m still going to wear it about town–like right now, to go pick up my kid from school.
